The baker and potter

Our Story

Himalayan Homestead, nestled in a tranquil Himalayan valley, cradled by two Oak ridges, is in village Sasbani near Mukteshwar.

For the baker and potter couple, a long cherished dream of living in the Himalayas finally materialised here. Natural farming, sustainable and minimalistic living and being one with nature epitomizes life in the Homestead. The Homestead grows its own vegetables and fruits. The bakes are all in-house. What doesn't grow here is sourced from the adjoining villages. Built with pure love, heart and soul, every part of the homestead holds a story to tell.

Living in harmony with nature

The Cottages

The homestead has four tastefully designed cottages. We believe in living in harmony with nature. The cottages have been designed to enjoy the ambience of the existing orchard and the bordering forest. All the cottages have earthy elements, and on a clear day, majestic view of the snowcapped Trishul, Mrigthuni, Maiktoli Nandadevi and Nandakot peaks is a sight to behold.

Healthy, Wholesome & hearty

Dining

Food in the Homestead is healthy, wholesome and hearty. A reflection of our love for simple, seasonal, fresh and local produce. We source produce from our farmer friends in and around the village.

We serve vegetarian, vegan and Jain food. Our menu is simple and dynamic and in tune with the seasons. While staying with us, you are likely to experience the yeasty aroma of the freshly baked bread and the intoxicating buttery aroma of freshly baked cakes and muffins wafting through. The bakes are all in-house. The luscious jams, jellies and spreads are all made from the organic fruits from our orchard and in our kitchen. Like a large family, all the guests at the Homestead gather at the large dining hall and enjoy meals together in the warmth of the fire place. We do not have room service. All meals are buffet and we don't have an a la carte menu. On request we can prepare food for children under the age of 5 years. We also have outdoor seating in the midst of our garden for those who would like to enjoy their meals in the open, under a pear tree or the wild cherry tree amidst the cacophony of birds.
We serve only vegetarian food. We have egg servings for breakfast and some of our dishes (cake, curries and biryani) use eggs.
We don't serve alcohol.
